The Bridge of Memory
The voice of someone beautiful is silent,
and yet her presence seems so real and clear.
The smile that always filled a room with sunshine
at any time, it seems, could reappear.
With every thought of her,
it seems the sadness becomes a wider,
deeper stream of loss.
Yet, memory builds a bridge of healing comfort,
from here to her, for loving hearts to cross.
The voice of someone beautiful is silent,
and yet her presence seems so real and clear.
The smile that always filled a room with sunshine
at any time, it seems, could reappear.
With every thought of her,
it seems the sadness becomes a wider,
deeper stream of loss.
Yet, memory builds a bridge of healing comfort,
from here to her, for loving hearts to cross.
Thank you, Lord, for sending friends into our lives who can pick us up and carry us through when we don't have the strength to carry on.

What a great card. I have the picture of Donna, Sandra & myself at the beach last year. It is sitting on my piano. When I look at it, it's still hard to imagine that I will never hear that laugh again or see that smile until we meet again. Thanks for sharing with us! Jeanette
ReplyDeleteThat is just perfect Sissy. It really doesn't seem real that she is not here. Several times today I caught myself thinking I really need to call. And then I remember. Thanks for sharing that. And to Jeanette -- I hear that laugh in my head all the time and it always brings a smile...thank you God for friends who love. j
ReplyDeleteHello To All:
ReplyDeleteIt really doesn't seem real that shes not here. It's still sinking in for all of us. Today we are celebrating Dylan's 12th Birthday (the oldest grandchild) Donna never missed any birthday parties, she had to remind Dad all the time who's birthday it was. She was a very cool grandma, as the kids would say, always getting what they asked for. Not clothes!! We will always remember the laughs and good times that we did share. Now the grandkids have a guardian angel watching over them always...
Love to all,
Tasha
I was sitting in my backyard the other morning from 4a until 5a-watching for a promised meteor shower that the weatherman had said was going to be visible to the naked eye. I sat there for that hour and watched the skies and the stars-and I started thinking about how wonderful it is for those loved ones who have gone on ahead of us to be up in those heavenlies with the creator of the universe. I tried to imagine how glorious it must be for them to be able to see God's glory from that side-I thought -Wow-they have a bird's eye view of the stars and the majesty of all of God's creation. Whenever I see something that is so beautiful that it could have only come from God-I think about how very blessed we are that we know the wonderful God who created it all-and that our loved ones are in a place that is so truly majestic-that we can only imagine. When you feel sad for Donna-just look at something beautiful and wonderful-and know that Donna is beside the one who is Master over it all. I think of you all every day and remember you in my prayers- remember what Jesus said "I will not leave you comfortless" May he comfort your hearts each and every day in the way that only he can-Love you all-Sherry
ReplyDeleteHey everyone,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to drop in and say hello and see how everyone is doing.
Lorelei
Hi Cousin Sherry, just got a look at the blog today and saw your note. I do think about what you said every single time I see the sun, moon, stars and all the wonders of our world. I often think of Taylor, always have but especially lately. As Tasha said in her note, Donna was just the best grandma, loved those kids so much. Right after we lost her I thought about all those there with her and how happy she is to be with them and I especially thought of Taylor. You know they are just rejoicing together waiting for us to join them. Love you so much! Jan
ReplyDeleteHey Lorelei, good to see you stopping by! Thanks for your note today, hope you have a great weekend!

Hey Tasha! Good to see your note too! Its been such a hectic time I haven't even talked to your dad this week. Hope you guys are all doing okay. Thanks for what you wrote. I just know Donna has her eye on those grandbabies and all of you. If you saw my note to Sherry, Taylor is her son they lost when he was just 2. I know that Donna and Taylor are together and bring each other great joy!

ReplyDeleteIt gives me a lot of joy to think of Donna being with Taylor-and with Keith and Grandmom and Grandad and Aunt Ruthie and other family that I am sure you all have who are there- it is sometimes so hard to know what to say when you know someone is hurting- I just hope that you all will always think about how Donna would be telling you all-Please don't be sad for me-I am so happy and I wouldn't come back now-even if I could. I am waiting for all of you-and we will have the most joyous reunion that anyone can ever imagine. Be happy, be well and take the very best care of each other that you can-and I will see all of you again soon. Above all, just remember that she would want all of you to live your lives out with the complete assurance that she is well-and she will see you again-and "he will wipe every tear away" Love you guys-Sherry
