God Is Great!

Following is an update we received from Donna's caregiver of the past few days:

...Her oxygen has been turned back to 4 and her saturations were holding at 98 & 99%. She is trying really hard to work on the food thing. She ordered a grilled cheese today, but when it finally arrived (long after the soup), it was toasted and not grilled. She did eat about 1/4 of it anyway. She also has eaten 1/2 of a canteloupe in the past 2 days. She even mentioned that she should try vegetable soup.
Donna seemed to enjoy my reading to her. Yesterday & today I read to her from her Bible. Today I also read a cute story from a book I had taken down. I thought she might drift off to sleep, but each time I looked up, she was grinning at something I had read.

I am sitting here this morning with tears in my eyes thinking of how wonderful our Lord is. Even when we allow doubt to creep in, the Lord doesn't budge and stays right by our side. How awesome is that?

Just a week ago Donna was downgraded to an oxygen mask and was on the verge of another ICU visit. We all prayed and not only did God sustain Donna and keep her out of ICU, He also brought her spirit up to levels we have not seen since...well, since this entire journey began. What an awesome God we serve, and what an obedient, faithful servant Donna is...an example for all to follow!

GOD IS GREAT! SING HIS PRAISE!

  1. Wow! PRAISE THE LORD! Donna, you definitely are a good and faithful servant of our Lord! You have been a true testament of faith to me, that I know for sure! I look at your picture on my desk every day...and see that sweet smile that I miss so much!

Hugs and more hugs to you today!

  2. It's me again, I forgot to share a Cheyenne funny with you...since you love Cheyenne stories. We ran out of dog food (I know, bad pet parents), so I scrambled her some eggs. She snubbed them, until I picked up her plate, and hand-fed them to her on a platic fork! She's so funny - and YES - spoiled! Doesn't know she's a dog! LOL!!

    Love ya!

  4. Hi Sisters,

  5. Amen to that Auntie J, it is such an honor to have a mother like mine. She is definatly a gift from God!! You just keep on fighting the battle and before you know it you will be playing with the grandkids again. Anyone out there that may be reading all of this please know that if you are having trouble relating to your parents or are not always happy with the way they do things or the things they say, know that they are your parents because God wanted it that way and wouldn't have it any other way. Also just think about what it would be like without them. Even as I have the most wonderful mother in the world, there were things that i didn't always agree with. But I don't know what I would do without her. She is my best friend and always will be. And because of my salvation and hers we know that we will see each other again in heaven one of these days. Whether I pass first or her. Only God knows our future and personally God isn't done with Donna Sowers.
Momma you don't know the inspiration you are to everyone, even people you don't know. You have definatly obeyed our wonderful and mighty God. Thank you for being my mom and always being there for me.
I love you with all my heart and then some,
    Monica

  6. Monica, what you said is so true. Speaking from the experience of losing my own Mother, you do not realize what you have lost until you have lost your Mom, and I can tell you, it's tough. I will always be grateful to your Mom, because she was always there for me, during this time in my life, and I will always LOVE HER and APPRECIATE her for the love and thoughtfulness she shared with me, and I'll never ever forget the hug, that held me together. Your Mom is so special to me, and always will be!! :0)

Donna, today is Friday, 2/6/09 - I'm sending you lots of prayers, hugs, and well wishes for a good weekend with your family!!

    Love Ya,

    Lorelei
