The news on Donna is basically about the same. She has periods where she is slightly better, but overall not much change.
However...more news to report.
Joel is asking us to pray for his Mom tonight. She was at the mall with Joel's sister who was letting her out at the door to the store and going to go park the car. Joel's Mom got her coat caught in the door and as his sister drove off his Mom was knocked off her feet onto the pavement. She has a broken hip and possibly a broken pelvis -- is at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He's asking prayer for his sister who is just devastated that it happened, and of course his mom.
Joel is doing okay. He said that after the week and day that Donna has had, he is pretty numb to more catastrophes.
Donna was resting when we talked and Joel had gone to dinner. I am going to call him in her room in about an hour to see how she is. Joel was going to try to get her to walk and I was going to try to get her to talk, thinking some activity might help settle her in for the night. Will send another email after I talk to them then.

What an incredible couple you are. Your faith shines through loud & clear. Many of my friends pray for you and ask about you almost daily. Keep up the faith. I check the blog often to check on your progress. Hopefully you will turn the corner soon. I saw Bren & Aileen at Franklin Restaurant yesterday. Joel, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. I'll add her to my prayer list.
ReplyDeleteLove ya, Jeanette
I'm leaving in a few minutes for NC where I will have no internet access but I will be praying for you. Hang in there! Better times are coming.

Donna and Joel,
ReplyDeleteYou are both in my thoughts and prayers daily. The strength and fortitude that you show are an inspiration to all who read your "happenings". Donna, I am praying for relief of pain and infection so that your body can begin to heal and Joel I am praying that God will provide the physical and spiritual strength you need as you continue in your caregiving role and for your mom and her recent accident. And to all of your family members by your side who keep us informed and are part of the caregiving team, Blessings on you!
Love you lots,
Sheri
Daddy Joel and Momma,
ReplyDeleteYou both know that I love you very much and am praying constantly. I wish I could be there with you guys but I have got to get better before I can come. You know I will be there as soon as I can. Joel, if there is something I can do for your mom you know I am not that far away just let me know. I will continue to pray for her and mom. I am so glad that it is only 2 days away before you will have some other company. I feel so far away but this blog helps to keep me as close as I can possibly be right now. Thank you to everyone who has participated in my mom's illness, that is what is keeping us all going.
Love Y'ALL sssoooo much,
Monica
Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
ReplyDeleteI pray for the Holy Spirit to draw near to you Donna and Joel- he will strengthen and comfort you in the way that no other can. God Bless you both and we will be with you in spirit- Sherry in Texas
Hi Donna,
ReplyDeleteI just found out about your blog this past weekend from Lowil. It has been so inspiring to read about your journey and to see all the support from family and friends. I will keep you and Joel in my prayers especially during this Christmas week.
Amy
P.S.: if you want a laugh by checking out my sort of lame blog, it's hardyhokies.blogspot.com.
My dear sweet Donna - How I wish I could be there and do something for you AND Joel. You're never far away in my toughts, but yet feel like you're a million miles away. Checking the blog everyday, sometimes once and twice to try and stay up to date. Just know that you're both in my prayers. Joel, I will be praying for your mother, and your sister, as well. Praying that tomorrow will be a better day.
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Suzanne
Grandma came through the surgery and is back in the room as of 10:00p.m (tues) She did have to have a full hip replacement. I just talked to mom (Carmen) so it is all like a hurry up and wait. I hope that Donna's procedure went well today. We have been praying that each day will just be a little easier for Donna. We love and miss you guys so much. Merry Christmas.
