Up and Down
Compared to the last number of days, Donna had a fairly good morning. She was able to recognize those who had visited with her in the morning. While we are very grateful and praise God for this sweet blessing of a window of opportunity to visit with Donna and know that she was aware we were there with her, all of us approached it with great caution. One thing we have learned over the last few days is just how fast things change with her.
Donna once again took a downhill slide in the afternoon. Some of her confusion had returned and the doctors discovered yet another problem, this one being bleeding somewhere gastrointestinally. Depending on some factors she may have an upper GI series tomorrow to see if the source of the bleed can be found.
Tonight, Donna again brightened up a little bit. Joel was able to visit with her and was even able to get her to give him a kiss on the cheek.
As you can imagine, this up and down journey is not only very difficult for Donna but it is also starting to take its toll on her caregivers from her husband, children, and family members to her nurses and doctors.
Tonight we ask that your prayers be for Donna's husband Joel, Donna's children Crystal, Rachel, and Monica, for her multiple extended family and for her tireless caregivers and doctors at Duke who are working around the clock to give Donna the best care they know how to give.

Our prayers continue to be with Donna and the entire family. Jeanette, Donna, and I went to Emerald Isle last spring and had a wonderful time. She is a very close, special friend. I love her very much! Sandra and Ben Layman, Rocky Mount, VA 24151
ReplyDeleteOur prayers are with Donna and Joel. I know things are not looking good right now but God is good and He is with you every step of the way. Continue to trust Him in bad times as you do when things are going well.Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

ReplyDeleteWe began this journey with you all and we will finish it with you. We know that at this time we have so many questions-Why Dear Lord?
I asked the Lord to just give me a word to share with you to give you some much needed encouragement at this time. This is what he led me to
IICorinthians 4:16 "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" I hope that these words will lift you up and give you the strength to keep going - we stand with you and will continue to do so
much love and prayer, Sherry
A prayer for Donna and her family.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I read and comment, sometimes i just read, but I never stop praying. I pray that the Lord, God almighty will look after Donna and grant her complete healing. I also pray for her family. I know how hard it is watch a loved one suffer. I pray that God will confomrt them and that they will feel his presence and have peace.
